Work to live? Live to work?
Today is one of the those days that you have dreams about. Not dreams that give you butterflies, not dreams that keep you in bed trying your hardest to stay asleep to enjoy and certainly not the wet dreams you had when you were 12. I’m talking about the nervous dreams. The ones that make you uncomfortable upon opening your eyes because you realize that even your unconscious, sleeping mind is consumed by thoughts of the complicated tasks ahead of you. The work that stands between you and the chance of actually enjoying the breaths you take.
Ah yes, the kind of day full of projects who’s deadlines are approaching (or passed). Most of us know them well. The kind of day that proves to you that the “work to live, don’t live to work” philosophy is often times just a philosophy, not a reality. At least not a consistent reality. The phrase really should be rewritten to say “Work a lot to live a little” or “Work your ass off all the time to live every once in a while.”
I guess you just have to find a way to at least enjoy the work you do, so thankfully I do.
